Grey's Anatomy has been renewed for its twelfth season but it definitely won't be the last. This means that the ABC TV series will still have a thirteenth season. A young doctor meanwhile will recur in the next season who might probably replace the late Dr. Derek Sheperd a.k.a McDreamy.
NEW DOC IN TOWN
Grey's Anatomy Season 11 is nearing its finale this coming Thursday, May 14. Fans felt sad that Derek had to die but there could be a reason not to feel the same anymore because another cute young doctor is returning on Season 12. A report says it has been confirmed that Dr. Andrew de Luca, portrayed by Giacomo Gianniotti, will have a recurring role in the new season.
Gianniotti starred in series such as Beauty and the Beast and Reign. There is no official statement yet though from ABC if Gianniotti will directly stand in for McDreamy. In the previous seasons, Gianniotti was accepted at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital after saving a woman when a bridge collapsed in Seattle. He was on his way to the hospital for his internship when the incident happened which prompted him to bring the victim to Grey Sloan. He was mistaken as a doctor that he was allowed to treat patients but later on he admitted that he was just an intern.
SEASON 13?
The thing is, fans won't just watch out for Season 12 as ABC has announced that it won't be the last season. According a report, ABC President Paul Lee declared that he would want to see the show run for many many years saying that there are many plans for the next seasons.
Season 11 entitled "You're my Home" will end with doctors of Grey Sloan Hospital getting closer to each other amid their loss. A report says the next episodes and seasons were created in such a way that fans would be able to move on quickly with Derek's passing.
No additional information on when Season 12 or Season 13 will return has been given yet by ABC's executives, only that Dr. Andrew de Luca will have a comeback. This and more is definitely something to watch out for in one of the network's top shows.
