iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 More Promising By the Day with Gesture Control Support, Additional RAM and Sapphire

By

KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo tipped investors on Tuesday that Apple is making big changes for the "iPhone 6s." The note revealed "massive" features such as Force Touch sensors in two 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions, new rose-gold casing similar to the Apple Watch Edition, a camera upgrade of 12 MP, and many more. Further, Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 are expected to have gesture control support, additional RAM, and sapphire display, making these smartphones promising by the day.

Gesture Control

The gesture control was featured in Samsung's Galaxy S4, which its implementation was said to be "far from perfect." The gesture control in the Galaxy S4 enables direct calls by placing the device to the ear, receive notifications for missed calls or messages by picking up the smartphone, zoom a picture by titling the device back and forth, and many more.

With Apple's iOS, the gesture control feature is integrated in:

  • VoiceOver: "Touch the screen to hear what's under your finger, then use gestures to control your device."
  • Zoom: "While you're zoomed in, you can still use all of the familiar gestures to navigate your device. And Zoom works with VoiceOver, so you can bettersee - andhear - what'shappening on yourscreen."
  • FaceTime: "Catch every gesture and facial expression - from raised eyebrow to ear‑to‑ear smile."
  • Assistive Touch: "So if you have difficulty with some gestures, like pinch, you can make them accessible with just a tap of a finger. Or create a custom gesture. And if you have trouble pressing the Home button, you can activate it with an onscreen tap. Gestures like rotate and shake are available even when your iOS device is mounted on a wheelchair."
  • Speech: "People with speech impairments can also benefit from iOS features. FaceTime lets you communicate visually, whether you use sign language, gestures, or facial expressions."

The OS of the Apple Watch also offers gesture control. The site said, "From the moment you wake the display with a simple raise of the wrist, you'll be comfortable using Apple Watch. The Watch OS feels amazingly fresh. But it's visually reminiscent of what you're used to seeing, and is designed around simple gestures, such as zooming and panning, that already come naturally. Navigation is fluid and responsive."

All these could possibly play in the next iPhone 6s.

2 GB of RAM

Having a 2 GB of RAM has its benefits:

  • More apps can stay open in the background
  • Reduce the endless opening/closing cycle
  • Multi-tasking advantage
  • Run games smoothly, work better, and keep play sessions alive in work memory
  • Improved web browser performance, more pages can be opened up at the same time

Sapphire Display

Both the Apple Watch and the Apple Watch Edition contain sapphire crystals that came from "the highest-quality boules," which Apple claims that they only harvest the "purest, clearest, and strongest" crystal. Further, the sapphire crystal is also the "hardest transparent material on earth." If the iPhone 6s Plus indeed comes out with a sapphire display, a scratch-resistant would come out into the open.

Additional Features

Ming-Chi Kuo's tip also hints additional features such as a microphone near the speaker to improve voice quality, A9 processor, upgraded 2 GB RAM LPDDR4, different casing materials and internal designs to address bending issues, some 5.5-inch model coming out with sapphire cover lens only if the drop test issues are resolved, and improved Touch ID on terms of its recognition rate.

Incorporating all these features in an iPhone 6s and an iPhone 7 with gesture control, sapphire display, and 2 GB of RAM gets promising gradually and steadily until its release date.
