Fire Emblem If 3DS Introduces Easier Phoenix Difficulty Mode; Black and White Kingdom Japan Release this June

By

Fire Emblem If has just become friendlier to 3DS users who can't seem to cope with the game's challenges. Between If and Awakening, the former would now do away with the weapon durability scheme.

This update comes from Gamespot's report which details what was said in Famitsu, a Japanese publication. In Awakening, the durability of weapons made players give good consideration when and to whom weapons should be used. However, since inventory slots are numbered, it can become an issue for a lot of gamers.

Aside from this change would be the addition of the Phoenix difficulty mode in Fire Emblem If. This would provide an easier gameplay by disabling permadeath and resurrecting killed units upon map completion, as in Casual mode.

Although this may seem to veer away from any sense of challenge, there is still Black Kingdom, another version of If, which is more challenging. In it would be more victory conditions as well as limited money and experience.

The report also mentions that the class of the protagonist will be deemed either the Dark Prince or the Dark Princess, based on which gender the player chooses during character customization. Dragon Pulse in a newly introduced type of ability as well. It will be included for a number of characters, and may affect levels, such as in creating earthquakes and making mountains flat.

More details about the features of Fire Emblem If are given in a Destructoid article. Aside from the gender of the character, the voice, name, as well as appearance can also be changed. In the start of the game, there would be nine save files available, which will increase as the player progresses through scenarios.

Fire Emblem If had its first introduction for Nintendo last January. In Japan, there will be two versions available, being Black Kingdom and White Kingdom. The expected release date for the title would be this June in Japan. For Europe and North America, however, it would be some time in 2016.
