Castle Season 8 will again have the Caskett creative investigation tandem of novelist Richard Castle and detective Kate Beckett investigating strange homicides in New York.
Stana Katic tweeted an announcement of her return to the series as Beckett writing, "I am so pleased to announce that, after talking with our new showrunners, Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley (both of whom I've had the pleasure of working with on the show before) I'm excited about the future plans for Beckett and delighted to be returning for a Season 8 of Castle." Katic signed a one-year contract.
TV Line reports Nathan Fillion earlier signed his own one-year contract to come back as Castle on the series.
Former producer David Amann will be replaced by Winter and Hawley. Winter was a Castle writer for episodes that include "Veritas," "The Blue Butterfly," and "Once Upon a Time in the West." The longtime Castle writer became a producer in 2011 and was eventually promoted executive producer in the middle of the just concluded season.
Alexi Hawley of "The Following" will share showrunning duties with Winter, reports TV.com.
The show was renewed earlier last week before it finished its 7th season this week with Stana Katic's Beckett faced with the question of whether she should pursue a new challenge away from Castle or stay where she is. Katic's tweet reveals her character's choice to stay with Castle on the show.
Castle also stars Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle, Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers, Seamus Dever as Kevin Ryan, Jon Huertas as Javier Esposito, Tamala Jones as Lanie Parish, and Penny Johnson Jerald as Captain Victoria Gates. ABC however has not yet confirmed the status of Katic and Fillion's co-stars.
Castle Season 8 will return to television this fall on Mondays at 10pm, according to the ABC show website.
