True Detective Season 2 fans and reviewers are of two minds now that footages of the new episodes have been teased to the public.
The critically-acclaimed hit show returns to television with an all-new cast of characters replacing the successful season's stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as Louisiana State detectives Ruste Cohle and Marty Hart.
Instead of McConaughey and Harrelson, True Detective fans will see a new set of actors taking on what the show creators refer to as a powerful new season with strange twists, and hot, exciting, hair-raising scenes.
The setting has also changed to California.
Indiewire reports director Carly Fukunaga explaining the changes this season, "We were aiming for it to be more like a miniseries. The end would be definitive. We wouldn't extend anything into the second season. It would be done, and the next season would be completely different storylines and characters. So each episode had its own arc."
An HBO video teaser introduced the new season cast with Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, and Rachel McAdams.
The HBO Season 2 synopsis talks about how 3 law enforcers in the persons of corrupt police detective Ray Velcoro (Farrell), California Highway Patrol Officer Kitsch, Ventura County Sheriff detective Ani Bezzerides (McAdams), and career criminal Frank Semyon (Vaughn) are brought together to help solve a strange and gruesome murder while dealing with the challenge of finding the strength and courage to rise above their own personal dilemmas.
Motion poster teasers released also show varying views of California's expressway system potentially hinting at the crime being related to the state's transportation infrastructure.
With True Detective Season 2 coming up soon fans and reviewers are waiting to get more sneak previews about the first episode storyline.
True Detective Season 2 premieres June 21 on HBO.
