Gotham season two is building up what looks to be a particularly interesting sophomore season with the promotion of Morena Baccarin to series regular and confirmed reports of new villains coming into the fold.
Starting off with Bacarrin, the actress stars on the show as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, the chief medical examiner for the Gotham City Police Department, but beyond her official duties, she also plays the love interest of detective James Gordon on the show.
With Bacarrin's character becoming a more integral part of Gotham as the show's first season went on, her ascendance to a regular role became nearly inevitable. Also helping speed up her promotion to regular character status, is the fact that her contract basically gave her the leeway to gain a regular role right from the first time she appeared on the show, according to Screen Crush.
In addition to the actress now receiving a regular gig on Gotham, she has also been cast in two other roles close to the hearts of comic book fans all over the world. Bacarrin is the voice of AI Gideon on the TV show The Flash, and she will also be starring alongside Ryan Reynolds in the highly-anticipated movie adaptation of Deadpool, according to Screen Rant.
Apart from the larger role given to Bacarrin, Gotham will also be making changes in terms of the villains that will be popping up for season two. According to Cinema Blend, two of the more popular villains in the Batman universe are coming to the show. The two baddies in question are none other than Mr. Freeze and the diabolical Joker.
The Joker figures to feature quite prominently in the show's sophomore season, as his story arc is even said to be the main focus of the early episodes. As for Mr. Freeze, it's unclear as of now as to how he will be brought into the fold, but it's a mystery fans will definitely look forward to. Apart from the two, other villains who are said to be part of Gotham's second season include Clayface, the Mad Hatter, and The Riddler.
