By

Blizzard Entertainment recently announced the addition of two new characters to their upcoming game, Overwatch. It was previously noted that the beta schedule for the game is set to launch sometime around this year, 2015. The beta launch was confirmed at PAX East to begin around fall.

According to GameSpot, Overwatch new pair of characters are named: McCree and Zarya. McCree is a gunslinger who sports a contemporary cowboy look. He is an expert shot, capable of taking down multiple enemies with speed and efficiency. Zarya is a female tanker and former champion weightlifter, with a toned body to show for it. Overwatch's characters are renowned for their diversity with regards to ethnicity and gender.

Overwatch is an upcoming multiplayer shooter game from Blizzard that features heavy-duty fight scenes between a variety of characters. Each character comes with his/her own role-specialized set of skills and abilities, either offense, defense, tank, or support. Battles are team-based, so players get to decide which team will boost their chances at victory, IGN reports.

Jeffrey Kaplan, the Game Director of Overwatch, provided interesting facts about the design and gameplay of the new game. With the details provided, here are some of the things we know so far: The 6 member team slot had undergone a lot of testing before it was declared the "magical number", he shared. Character swapping is also possible, making mobility easier and role-performance more efficient.

Deathmatch was also removed from gameplay. Game developers wished to promote teamwork and cooperation, not reward individual victories. The game will be set in a futuristic earth, most of the world occupied by robots who seemingly served as the catalysts for the worldwide conflict players will find themselves in.

The creation of the video game was announced last year, November 7. Overwatch is currently planned for Microsoft Windows and OS X platforms.
