Both Apple and Google are set to launch their newest OS offerings in yet another head-to-head encounter. Apple is set to reveal more info on its iOS9 at its Worldwide Developers Conference happening on 8-12 June while Google plans to unveil its Android M a bit earlier during its annual I/O Developers Conference on 28 May. Both events will take place in San Francisco.
Google has partnered up with LG - the Korean manufacturer coming fresh off the success of its LG G4 flagship - to produce two new Nexus phones sporting the Android M OS. The Nexus models, a 5.2-inch phone and a 5.9 inch one, are the company's response the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. There is not much information available on the units, but more details will be revealed regarding them and the Android M OS in a couple of weeks.
The firmware is expected to bring in several features like improved notifications, smart home, Android TV, built-in Android auto support, voice access, and improved security includes a killswitch. The Material Design feature, which is already utilized in Lollipop, will be featured in Android M so the two is expected to look similar, if not the same.
Meanwhile, the equally anticipated iOS9 from Apple is rumored to have the following features: a re-designed and colorful Siri, new wallpapers and color themes aside from the default blue and green color scheme, improved overall security, OS stability and performance, and lower-sized updates.
It is important to note that neither Apple nor Google have confirmed all the mentioned features or if there are any other ones included. But from the looks of things, both are keeping in mind the Internet of Things which is becoming more and more relevant to everyone. With both iOS9 and Android M focusing on ease of access and usage, reliability and security, the only thing that will differentiate them from each other is the personal preference of the users.
