Los Angeles fashion designers and "Rodarte" label founders Kate and Laura Mulleavy are going big in their directorial debut as the A-lister actress and their long-time muse Kirsten Dunst will officially star in their film "Woodshock".
The sisters are known for their notable accomplishments in the fashion industry most particularly their designs in the award-winning 2009 film "Black Swan". Kate and Laura have also designed entire collections of their pop culture reference as their 2014 Fall Collection featured Star Wars-themed gowns with images of C3PO, Luke Skywalker and the Death Star.
But now, the sisters are shifting their vision from the runway to the red carpet as they are set to make their directorial debut film "Woodshock" with their long-time friend and muse, Kirsten Dunst (Spider-man, Melancholia).
Although the rest of the plot details are still under the covers, their first feature film will be based on the sisters' original screenplay that has been in the process of development for years now. Ken Kao's Waypoint Entertainment will finance and produce "Woodshock" along with Ben LeClaire and Michael Costigan of Coto Films. A24, which just put out Ex Machina, has already signed on for the theatrical US rights.
Meanwhile, 33-year-old Kirsten Dunst is set to appear in the second season of FX's Emmy-winning crime thriller "Fargo" wherein she will playing the role of Peggy Blomquist, "a small town beautician with big city dreams". Though the show's time slot still has not been announced, the witty crime story is set to premier this fall.
As for Kate and Laura, they might still be in the beginning phase of their filmography careers but it does not mean that "Woodshock" won't be as successful as their 'Rodarte' label. After all, they are no strangers to the business, having worked with the Oscar-winning movie "Black Swan".
