‘Doctor Who Season 9’ Surprise Character Resurrects from the Dead; “The Hobbit” Director to Finally Helm the Series?

"Doctor Who Season 9" unexpectedly picks up a character that was dead from the past season. Osgood, who was murdered in the season eight finale "Death in Heaven" by none other than Missy, will be making an appearance in season nine.

The showrunner and head writer Steven Moffat confirms and explains in a BBC press release that, "Osgood is back, fresh from her recent murder at the end of last series. We recently confirmed that Osgood was definitely dead and not returning - but in a show about time travel, anything can happen. The brilliant Ingrid Oliver is back in action. This time though, can the Doctor trust his number one fan?"

Whether Osgood will resume her position in the series or if she will have the guts to exact revenge against Missy is still a mystery. On the bright side, Ingrid Oliver who is playing Osgood, expresses her surprise upon being called back for the next season.

"As every actor who's worked on "Doctor Who" will tell you, there's always the secret hope you'll get the call asking you to come back. To actually receive that call is both unexpected and brilliant. The word 'honour' gets banded about a lot, but it really is, it's an honour. Especially because I was so sure Osgood was a goner after the last series!"

Speaking of Missy also known as "The Master", Michelle Gomez who was also confirmed to reprise the role commented, "Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I'm delighted to be putting my lippie back on. I'm positively dying to see The Doctor again!"

Will Osgood's forthcoming encounter with Missy put finality in her death? It also sparks curiosity whether the "Doctor" will ever be able to save her the second time around, or does Osgood's return carry along with her a formidable increase in her capabilities? Her suspicious return from the dead should mean something and it is what the fans are anticipating for the next season.

Meanwhile, fans of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" who are avid viewers of "Doctor Who" are still moaning on when the director of the said films will ever graze his work on the TV series. Director Peter Jackson who is a long-time fan of the fiction previously told Entertainment Weekly that, "They don't even have to pay me, but I have got my eye on one of those nice new gold-colored Daleks."

Money does not seem to be the problem, but time is. Steven Moffat answered, "If he's up for it, we'll do it, but he's very hard to get hold of at times."

He quoted how "insanely busy" is the multi-awarded director helming "The Hobbit" trilogy and other projects. "It's just difficult to get these guys tied down-but he is a genuinely big Doctor Who fan," finalizes Moffat. The director might have some room for the season nine when he is not tied down in his other works anymore.

Confirmed guest stars for the new season include Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, Jami Reid-Quarrell, Aaron Neil, India Ria Amarteifio, Joey Price, Dasharn Anderson, Harki Bhambra, and Demi Papaminas.

The all-time favorite British science-fiction "Doctor Who Season 9" that is written into two parts will premiere on August 23 in BBC America with the lead stars Peter Capaldi as the "Doctor" and Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald.
