The 15-inch Retina Macbook Pro upgrade is expected to make an appearance at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. Mac followers are reporting sign posts signalling the coming presentation of the refreshed Apple device.
Macworld points to the increasing time dispatch estimate of 2-3 weeks for last year's 2.5 GHz 15in Macbook Pro with Retina display as a manifestation that a refresh is likely to happen at the WWDC.
Macworld predicts that Apple is set to update the Macbook Pro with Retina display in 2015. The unveiling of the next professional Mac laptop is expected at the June 8-12 developer's conference.
Apple Insider also sees a WWDC debut for the updated Macbook Pro with a Force Touch trackpad and speed upgrades. Telling signs of the imminent update can be seen from the Apple Reseller stores marking down Macbook Pro models as end-of-life or discontinued, says the site. Indications of shrinking stocks of models are definite signals of a coming upgrade.
"MacMall is completely out of 15-inch MacBook Pro models, including retail configurations, while Amazon and most other resellers only retain stock of the base configuration," says Apple Insider of the inventory situation.
However, there may be delays in the expected due to mishaps in the delivery of Intel's Broadwell chips for the 15-inch Retina Macbook Pro, says MacRumors. The Broadwell chips are said to be arriving in July or August which makes the Macbook Pro release in June less likely.
MacRumors cites Intel's Broadwell chip delays and Broadwell's convergence with Skylake chip release dates have made it more difficult to mark the actual delivery of the Retina MacBook Pro and iMac.
The 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro was last updated by Apple in July 2014 with a quiet update of specs with the Intel Haswell CPUs, more standard memory, and reduced prices.
