A new game poster for Batman: Arkham Knight was recently released featuring Nightwing with the caption "The End Begins 06.23.15".
The caption led some fans to speculate that this could be either Batman's last adventure, or the last installment Rocksteady will work on thereby signalling the end of the series. Of course, the caption could mean anything or nothing at all.
Nightwing is one of the playable characters in the upcoming action-adventure game from developer Rocksteady Studios and publisher Warner Bros. Other playable characters/allies include Robin, Catwoman, and Azrael. Commissioner James Gordon and Oracle also appear in the game in non-playable roles.
The dual play function was recently showcased as well in promotional videos in which team-up between two characters are seen.
"It's incredible to see where it's come to from the very beginning back in Arkham Asylum. It was all sort of things in the early days, but now we see ... the success of the previous games really allowed us to push it to this point," said Rocksteady lead AI programmer Tim Hanagan
"I think dual play is gonna be one of those features people crazy for when they get their hands on the game," Rocksteady brand marketing producer Dax Ginn said.
Meanwhile, a US$70 special edition of the Batman: Arkham Knight was spotted at Amazon. The bundle is called the Serious Edition, and includes a hard copy of the game, the Batman First Appearance skin, and an exclusive limited edition 25th anniversary hardcover copy of the graphic novel "Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth". Neither the season pass nor any DLC is included in the bundle, which sparked reactions from fans.
Datablitz has also launched various editions of the Batman: Arkham Knight game, including the Standard, Steelbook, Memorial, and Batmobile Editions.
Set a year after the Joker's death, Batman: Arkham Knight introduces a new villain made specifically for the game. The Arkham Knight character is described as a militarized version of Batman with an "A" emblem on his chest. Meanwhile, Scarecrow has rallied all the other nemesis of Batman together to finally get rid of the hero.
Batman: Arkham Knight, the fourth installment in the Batman: Arkham series, is going to be released on 23 June 2015 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows.
