Brad Bird Confirms That Disney-Pixar's The Incredibles 2 Will Be Timeless Unlike Most of Today's Superhero Sequels

By

Even without Walt Disney Studios officially announcing a follow-up sequel to 2004's The Incredibles, Brad Bird is quite keen to breathe a different life to one of his classic projects. The animated comedy film was released under Pixar Animated Studios.

The American film director/writer recently sat down with IGN and had a fair discourse regarding the challenges of making a sequel for Disney-Pixar in todays crowded with "superhero" team climate. Bird gave details that because of the more than a decade gap for a follow-up he wanted the next movie to have a more enduring feel for the audiences than most installments.

"For me, the interesting thing was never the superhero part of it. It was more the family dynamic, and how do superhero things play into that. So the movie is a step further in that direction - but I do have a story idea that I think is very intriguing, and not like anything else. So my goal would to still be surprising, which is not easy to do, and maybe I'll succeed, and maybe I won't! That's certainly what I'm going to try".

Despite these assertions the director who also wrote the screenplay for 'The Incredibles" remained guarded with the storyline and wanted to keep shut if it will include the mole-like villain named 'The Underminer' who unearthed himself during the final moments of the 2004 computer-animated movie.

For a good backstory, Disney acquired Pixar in 2006. Walt Disney Studios now has the rights to distribute the upcoming follow-up to another Pixar classic film, Finding Dory. Disney-Pixar will be unveiling more details to this much-awaited Brad Bird project in the upcoming Walt Disney Studios Expo as Finding Dory will also be made public this coming August. Bird presently still has another Walt Disney Studios' project on his sleeve with another live-action science fiction adventure film entitled 'Tomorrowland' which stars George Clooney.

The director began his transition to live-action filmmaking with Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol in 2011.
