Another classic game is emerging on the horizon for a true revamp and revival. inXile Entertainment is scheduled to launch their Kickstarter Campaign for the new game The Bard's Story IV as the sequel to the 80s classic of the same name. The Bard's Story IV Kickstarter Campaign will open on June 2 in celebration of the game's 30th anniversary.

The Bard's Story IV is the fourth installment to The Bard's Story series of fantasy dungeon crawling adventure games birthed in 1985. The game was then developed by Interplay Productions and published by Electronic Arts. Now, inXile Entertainment (and Interplay) founder Brian Fargo has acquired the rights to have the game properly produced. However, he will need pledges in order to realize his dream of a proper sequel to the beloved classic 80s game since it has yet to exist. Fargo states that the game "doesn't start to exist until after we have a campaign. But the visuals are real. When we start to show some of the screenshots and in game footage, that's all how it's going to look."

inXile Entertainment is banking on the game's nostalgia in order to generate pledges to have the game developed. TheBard's Story IV will be made with Epic's Unreal Engine 4, making use of photogrammery to create visually stunning 3D objects from photographs of researched Scotland architecture.

The Bard's Story IV will be another addition to inXile Entertainment's roster of high profile game development through Kickstarter funding along with last year's premiere landslide success of the crowdfunded Wasteland 2 and the currently developing Torment: Tides of Numenera. As of late, Torment: Tides of Numenera has generated a whopping $4,188,927 from 74,405 backers, and is still generating pledges through the game's official website.

No doubt that The Bard's Story VI will again be a success with the crowdfunding campaign. The Kickstarter Campaign for The Bard's Story VI will be open to pledges starting June 2 in celebration of the original game's 30th anniversary.
