GH fans may have to say goodbye to another key character in the series, Shawn Butler, as the actor who plays the role Sean Blakemore is done filming his last scene for the ABC series. According to We Love Soaps, Blakemore recently filmed his last scenes in "General Hospital" and Shawn's exit will be aired in the forthcoming episodes in the weeks to come.
Blakemore also thanked his fans on Twitter for their undying support throughout his stay at "General Hospital."
"It was a great ride! Ur support is overwhelming. ..such beautiful people u all are...much love 4 each and everyone of you," the actor said. As seen on the Tuesday, May 19 episode, Shawn was arrested for shooting Hayden and he found out that Jordan lied to him. Will Shawn remain in prison or will he become a victim of another mob war?
Celeb Dirty Laundry noted that "General Hospital" seems to be letting go of a couple of its "older" cast members following the recent exit of Ian Buchanan, Anthony Geary and Jeffrey Vincent Parise. Wally Kurth, who plays Ned Ashton will also be leaving the show in the upcoming episodes, and rumor has it that Olivia will be joining him in leaving Port Charles.
The outlet cited that there are two possibilities why GH is letting go of several key characters - either the show will go off air or the show will undergo a major transition. "General Hospital" going off air may be likened to several rumors that "Days of Our Lives" is also coming to an end. This may be highly unlikely, though, as the series continues to have a huge following.
According to the outlet, there is a higher possibility that "General Hospital" will undergo a major transition and cast younger actors and actresses to play the role. The show may start to focus on Rosalie Martinez, who could possibly be Sonny and Lily's daughter.
