It has been almost four years since George RR Martin released the fifth book to the series, "A Song of Ice and Fire." While Martin is pretty much known for taking his time in completing one book, the 66-year-old author promised fans that "The Winds of Winter" will be released before "Game of Thrones" season 6 airs on HBO.
George RR Martin revealed that he is currently wrapping up his sixth book, "The Winds of Winter" in the series titled, "A Song of Ice and Fire." Martin admitted that he has already cancelled his appearances for two conventions and has already turned down several interviews in order to focus his time and attention into finishing the book.
"A Dance with Dragons" was released in 2011 and has ended with a cliffhanger in such a way that it makes people wonder if Jon Snow will live on through the sixth book or will he die in the arms of his own men of the Night's Watch. While Martin has promised that "Winds of Winter" will be released before the season six premiere of the HBO series, "Game of Thrones," fans have already begun speculating several theories as to who is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.
iDigital Times cited the possibility that Stannis Baratheon will be battling against Daenerys Targaryen in reclaiming the Iron Throne. According to the outlet, Stannis could take full control of the North and could possibly win the Battle of Winterfell while Daenerys is in control of King's Landing. Stannis could either bow down and succumb to Daenerys' claim to the throne or he could stand against the Targaryens and fight for his own claim.
While these are still nothing but mere speculations, Martin has previously debunked a popular theory, which claims that Coldhands was Bran's uncle named Benjen Stark. Martin also said that while this popular theory is not right, there are several fan theories out there, which are correct.
