Luc Besson announced during his debut on Twitterverse that he will be making the comic "Valerian" into a film and the sci-fi flick will be starring Cara Delevingne. The film is set to be slated in theatres by July 21, 2017.
"Valerian" will be starring Cara Delevingne alongside Dane DeHaan and it will be a sci-fi film. The movie will be produces just after the sci-fi flick "Lucy" was released last year. According to reports, the plot of the film will center on time-travelling adventures of Valerian and his sidekick Laureline. Besson will not only direct the film but will also write the script.
The film is set during the 28th century as humanity discovers time-travelling and Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan are to show their adventures. The film was based on the novel of Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres that was published in 1967. The production of "Valeria" is said to begin by the end of this year but no other details have been revealed regarding where the film's set will be set-up.
Luc Besson also produced films such as "La femme Nikita," "The Transporter," "Taken," and "The Fifth Element." Dane De Haan also starred in the films "Chronicle" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." As for Delevingne, she is set to appear in major roles in the upcoming films entitled "Paper Towns," "Pan," and "Suicide Squad." The model and actress debuted her acting career in 2012 in the film "Anna Karenina."
EuropaCorp is said to finance, produce and distribute "Valeria" as they have with the previous projects and films made by Besson. EuropaCorp is a French independent film studio. The studio has produced blockbuster hits such as "Taken," "The Transporter," and "Lucy."
