Zac Efron stars in an upcoming coming-of-age film that is set to define this generation. The 27-year old actor star plays an up-and-coming DJ in the Max Joseph film 'We are your Friends' set for release this August.
"All you need is a laptop, some talent, and one track." says Zac Efron in the summer-esque trailer. The ''Neighbors" actor plays Cole, an aspiring EDM DJ who schemes and dreams of that ticket out of the Valley and into the big leagues. Cole finds himself in pursuit of that one elusive track that will help him pursue his dreams.
Cole is on a relentless quest to find that one elusive track. In the meantime, he and his childhood friends crank up the bass and spin tunes at parties. We Are Your Friends is a film about finding your voice and believing in yourself. It is about not letting society define you and establishing great friendships that would last a lifetime.
The struggling DJ is then taken under the wing of a much older DJ named James (Wes Bentley). As Cole learns a lot from James, he starts to develop a forbidden relationship with James' much younger and very seductive girlfriend Sophie. The pair would make things hot and heavy in the trailer. As with all forbidden affairs, the relationship becomes complicated as both start to develop feelings towards each other. The young DJ must choose between love, loyalty, friendship, and the pursuit of one's dreams in We Are your Friends Movie.
The film is the directorial debut of Max Joseph of MTV's Catfish: The TV Show fame. The film is set to hit theaters on August 28.
