Despite being one of the most celebrated actresses in Hollywood, Sigourney Weaver remains far from the spotlight as she is rumored to drop her role in the upcoming "Alien 5" movie. Meanwhile it is believed that the script for the upcoming "Alien" sequel is still undergoing revisions after the recent meeting between the film's director, Neil Blomkamp and Ridley Scott from the movie "Prometheus 2."
Sigourney Weaver earned recognition internationally after her breakthrough performace in the 1979 sci-fi movie Alien. She even received her first Oscar nomination in 1986 after appearing in three more sequels of the "Alien" movie franchise. The actress, now in her mid-60's also starred in several sci-fi movies including the movie Avatar back in 2009. Is she ready for another stint in the upcoming "Alien 5" movie or is she hinting on the possibility of dropping from the lead role?
The actress failed to reveal details about her participation in the "Alien 5" movie but confirmed that she will be in "Avatar 2" but as a different character. The only thing she confirms is that Neill Blomkamp did share new details about the "Alien 5" movie in a recent interview with Empire Magazine. The interview, according to Weaver revealed details about the plot connections between the "Alien 5" and "Prometheus 2" movie. Will the "Alien 5" movie be set on Paradise just like the "Prometheus film?
In addition to the possibility of Weaver declining the lead role for the "Alien 5" movie, it is believed that the screenplay for the Alien sequel is still under revisions. It was initially reported that Blomkamp's Alien movie will not be linked to the Prometheus film by Ridley Scott.
"I changed the one thing [Ridley Scott] felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit" Neill Blomkamp shared. He even revealed that the movie, "Alien 5" will have a different title as well. "It's kinda quite bold, but it gives away too much if I say the title," he continues.
Despite the lack of official announcements for the upcoming "Alien 5" movie, it is strongly believed that an epic adventure will be offered once more by 20th Century Fox even if Sigourney Weaver decides to drop the lead role or not. Confirmation of an available screenplay for the upcoming filming of the movie remains to be unclear as of the moment.
