Dwayne Johnson, "The Rock" confirms inclusion in the next installment of Fast and Furious 8, which is scheduled to be released on April 14, 2017. Luke Hobbs (Johnson) will return with the crew for another ride in the eighth installment of Fast and Furious as the sequel is currently in development after the huge hit of Fast and Furious 7.
In his San Andreas press conference, a reporter asked Dwayne Johnson if he will be on board in the next sequel of Fast and Furious 8, to which he quickly affirms "of course, it can't go on without Hobbs". Universal Studios has quickly confirmed another franchise of Fast and Furious after a staggering $1.5 billion profit worldwide of Fast and Furious 7.
Dwayne Johnson admitted that there could be a spin-off for Agent Hobbs, "We are all interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we'll see", he shares. "The Rock" plays the DSS Federal Agent Luke Hobbes who was first adversaries with the main characters Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew in Fast Five but later turned allies. He had few appearances on Fast and Furious 7 to "create a little space", yet he did not disappoint since he self-healed a broken arm with just flexing and took down a helicopter with a gun. The Rock shares about his character in Fast and Furious 7: "I still think for me personally we've created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want."
Fast and Furious 7 was affected by Paul Walker's death, which includes the production shutdown and the timing, Agent Hobbs had less appearances. However, fans will definitely see more of "The Rock" in Fast and Furious 8 with more action to the sequel along with Dom and his crew: Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson. Jordana Brewster's character may disappear along with Paul Walker's.
Fast and Furious 8 is scheduled to hit theaters on April 14, 2017. Stay tuned for more updates!
