Disney/Pixar at Cannes Film Festival: Five upcoming movies slated for release; Disney Animations struggling after recent break down?

By

Disney Animation Studios will release five films together with sister unit Pixar. Among these films are "Finding Dory," "Zootopia," "Toy Story 4," "The Good Dinosaur" and "Moana." John Lasseter, chief creative officer for Disney, said on a statement that ten years ago, the Disney Animations broke down, and the studio "suffered from low morale." And because of the hit "Frozen" and "Big Hero 6," his team is on fire again to create films that would catch the hearts of children and even adults.

The plot focuses on Arlo, an Apatosaurus, who got lost and found a friend in a cave-boy named Spot. "This is a boy and a dog story, but the roles are reversed. Arlo, the dinosaur, is the boy in the story and Spot is the dog," Lassater explained. "The Good Dinosaur" will be released November this year.

"Finding Dory" is a film about the lead character Dory. Nemo along with his father will help Dory find her family. During their journey in the Pacific Ocean, they will meet new creatures like Bailey the whale, a giant squid and Destiny the whale shark, where Lasseter said "She thinks she's a whale, but she's actually a shark."

"Zootopia," described as "classically Disney" by Lasseter, features talking animals having their own city. They do what people do, and they live in a place called Zootopia. The catch for the movies is that there is no humans present in the city. The plot centers on Judy Hopps, a bunny officer who teams up with Nick Wilde, a fox tracking a missing mammal, with only 48 hours left, only to find out that there is a mystery about to be discovered as the investigation commence.

As for "Moana," "music and Disney go so hand-in-hand," Lasseter stated. The opening of this film offers a musical extravaganza. "Moana" is the first Polynesian princess created by Disney. She sets sail to different islands with unlikely travel companions, a pig and a rooster. She'll meet Maui, and together they will face exciting adventures as her story unveils.

About for "Toy Story 4," Lasseter said: "We're in the early stages of the film, but it's shaping up nicely. It's funny. The story is not as much a continuation of the past films, but a brand new chapter in the 'Toy Story' world."

Disney and Pixar are picking up the piece after the recent success of "Big Hero 6" and "Frozen." Redemption awaits as the film outfit release five new and exciting adventures to look forward to in cinemas in the upcoming years.
