M. Night Shyamalan stated in an interview on how much he wanted to do an "Unbreakable" sequel. He said that it's interesting to continue the story, also because lots of fans were asking if he could do a six-episode series of "Unbreakable" on HBO or Netflix. M. Night Shyamalan has just recently directed an episode for "Wayward Pines" in Fox.
M. Night Shyamalan, who is famous for making supernatural movies talked about the "Unbreakable" series. "I even had an idea of doing a story that goes in one form, and a second part that's in another form, and a third one's in a different form," Shyamalan said.
Being a director for many years already, Shyamalan noticed the change in the industry of films and series. He added that the bizarreness of sequels in film is a little bit of what's going on with the power of TV. He also said that "once you've created a world and struggles and characters that we now connect with, again, that's where the story begins. So that's why sequels have become so powerful. In the old days, it just meant you were gouging them for more money."
For now, M. Shyamalan is a bit busy about "Wayward Pines." The hit series was based on Blake Crouch's "Pines" and was developed for television by Chad Hodge. Shyamalan directed the pilot episode of the series. The 10-episode show stars Matt Dillon, Tim Griffin, Carla Gugino, Reed Diamond, Julliette Lewis, Shannyn Sossamon, Toby Jones, Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo and Charlie Tahan.
The premiere though of "Wayward Pines" was not a top rating one because it was opposite of the NBA season finale, but on its following episodes, it increased rapidly with a shocking 90% increase.
"Wayward Pines" follows a Special Agent named Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) who sets out to look for his fellow agents, that includes his ex-lover Kate (Carla Gugino) who suddenly disappeared.
"Wayward Pines" aired its first episode last May 14, and airs on FOX every Thursday.
