Dominic Toretto's crew will be making a big-screen comeback for 'Fast and Furious 8' on April 14, 2017. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson confirmed his appearance on the eight installment during a press conference for 'San Andreas" saying, "Of course, can't go on without Hobbs."
There are a lot of talks for Paul Walker's replacement. Questions came up if his character, Brian O'Conner, will be returning or not - his brothers Caleb and Cody Walker are being mentioned in the mix though. Both helped in some of the graphical enhancements for Furious 7.
It has been rumored that Jason Statham, who made an appearance in Furious 7, and Luke Evans will be reprising their roles as the Shaw Brothers, Deckard and Owen. We've all seen Deckard Shaw go to prison at the end of the last film, but with his abilities, he may escape and continue his search for revenge against the Toretto's family.
Another comeback, according to Paramount Pictures, is the character of Kurt Russell, who was last introduced as Mr. Nobody. It was revealed through reports that he will have a major role to play in the next film.
And speaking of special agents, Eva Mendes may return to 'Fast & Furious 8' as Monica Fuentes - who works for the federal government - and go against Toretto and his crew once again.
As for the location, the Furious 8 crew is said to conquer the Big Apple to work for, or against, Kurt Russell's character. There are also ongoing plans to shoot some of the Furious 8 scenes in the Philippines. "I just love the Philippines and want to shoot Furious 8 there," Vin Diesel said.
Another surprise for the fans, 'Furious 8' may actually pave the way for a planned spinoff, centered on agent Hobbs character. Paramount Pictures hopes that 'Furious 8' will repeat the success of 'Furious 7', which made a whopping $1.1 billion in the box-office worldwide.
