Western-themed movies were once the backbone of the American film industry. It's not a surprise that the cowboys of the West are set to take on the big screen once again, this time with the remake of 'The Magnificent Seven'. The 1960s classic movie by John Sturges will be given some fascinating twists by director Antoine Fuqua of 'The Equalizer'.

It's been confirmed that Matt Bomer, known for his role in 'White Collar', will be joining the all-star cast. He will play the role of Haley Bennett's onscreen husband. The film tells the tale of seven gunslingers of the West Side, who will save a Mexican village from rampaging bandits who are led by a robber baron.

As for other cast members - Chris Pratt will portray a magician-turned-gambler, Vincent D'Onofrio will be known as the mountain man, Wagner Moura will be the Caballero of the group, and Denzel Washington will take over the role of a bounty hunter.

Negotiations are set for Jason Momoa to play one of the major villains. Momoa is best known for his role as Khal Drogo in 'Game of Thrones'. South Korean actor Lee Byung-Hun, who played Storm Shadow in the live adaptation of G.I. Joe, may also join the cast as one of the bandits.

The original movie was inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Japanese-language film, 'Seven Samurai'. Movie critics consider it a culturally significant film, which has grown in popularity its release. 'The Magnificent Seven' remake is being produced by Roger Birnbaum and Todd Black for MGM and Sony Pictures.

The set and cast already began their principal photography this month and is said to continue through June. John Lee Hancock rewrites the script, which was originally written by Nic Pizzolatto, writer of 'True Detective'. It is scheduled for a release on January 13, 2017.
