'The Magnificent Seven' remake has already revealed its protagonists. Just recently, MGM and Sony Pictures announced that they had found their villain in Peter Sarsgaard. The 'Boys Don't Cry' actor is set to join the film's stellar cast - alongside Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Matt Bomer, and several others.
Negotiations are also set for Jason Momoa - remembered for his role as Khal Drogo in 'Game of Thrones' - to play one of the major villains. South Korean actor Lee Byung-Hun, who played Storm Shadow in the live adaptation of G.I. Joe, may join the cast as one of the bandits as well.
Previous reports have revealed that the 1960s classic by John Sturges will be given some fascinating twists by director Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer) in its remake run to be released January 17, 2017. The film tells the tale of seven gunslingers of the West Side, who will save a Mexican village from rampaging bandits who are led by a robber baron.
Matt Bomer of 'White Collar', has also confirmed his role in the movie, wherein he will play the role of Haley Bennett's onscreen husband. As for other cast members - Ethan Hawke will play the mumbling-slacker gunslinger, Chris Pratt will portray a magician-turned-gambler, and Denzel Washington will take the role of a bounty hunter.
In the original movie, four of the 'Magnificent Seven' characters died. That's why questions came up if any of the heroes in the remake will die, too. According to Deadline Hollywood, none of the remake's characters are being modeled after the originals. So, we can only guess for now.
The set and cast already began their principal photography this month, and is said to continue through June. John Lee Hancock rewrites the script, which was originally written by Nic Pizzolatto, writer of 'True Detective'. Apparently, it's going to follow a grittier, darker approach.
