"The Huntsman" is in the stage of assembling the cast to greenlight the production for the follow-up of the 2012 blockbuster "Snow White and the Huntsman" starred by Kristen Stewart. Just recently, Jessica Chastain was announced to have gotten in as part of the cast.
Newest additions also revealed Sam Hazeldine who was a regular of the ABC drama "Resurrection" that was recently cancelled.
The upcoming movie is said to be a prequel zooming in on the life of the huntsman, played by Chris Hemsworth, before he met Snow White. In the previous film, it can be recalled that Hemsworth's character had a very torturous life story with his wife having been murdered by nefarious forces.
Universal Studios saw this as a strong point to continue the movie that has grossed a staggering $396 Million worldwide. Focusing it on the "Thor" actor would make a big possibility of another box office hit.
However, critics might be thinking differently. The Guardian names the "The Huntsman" as the most pointless follow-up of all time, citing how unnecessary it is to make a movie out of what took place between The Huntsman and Ravenna (Charlize Theron) before Snow White came into the scene.
The site also criticized the company for involving Stewart's scandal with "Snow White and The Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders in the decision of not casting them due to the negative publicity that their short-lived affair has brought for the film.
Many critics and fans of the "Twilight" actress alike repulse the production of the movie in talk, crediting the movie's success to Stewart's stardom. Some of them hoped to see even a glimpse of the star in the movie as she was the "Snow White" after all, only to see Universal completely eliminating her character along with her former director.
Writer-director Frank Darabont teaming up with Hemsworth and Theron still glows hope of success. Nobody knows the new arrangements and minute details as to date as the roles and plot of the movie are still vague to the public.
Those who are anticipating the release of the prequel wish it to pull something unexpected and out of the box concept like "Frozen" to rake in better sales figure in the box office. "The Huntsman" will premiere April 22, 2016 in theaters worldwide - to prove or disprove Stewart fanatics.
