The rise of Australian pop rock and indie rock bands in recent years has been astounding, and one of the boy bands that has stunned listeners across the world is 5 Seconds of Summer, which is set to release a new album towards the later part of 2015.
Not since the 19902s has there been a string of international smash hits emanating from talented bands from Down Under. In the case of 5 Seconds of Summer or 5SOS, the Sydney formed band consisting of Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood, what started out as YouTube video posts evolved into one of the most popular pop acts. The boy band's music has caught on with an increasing number of fans, and even One Direction invited the group to perform onstage with them.
The chart-topping group who shot to fame with the track "She Looks So Perfect" has been working on selections for the second album since last year. The giveaway was a tweet made by 19-year-old bassist Calum Hood saying he has written two songs. Calum evidently couldn't conceal his excitement about the group's next record.
The band recently embarked on its first world tour, and in Lisbon, rendered a new song entitled "Permanent Vacation" live. The song mirrors the angsts of the new generation.
To date, 5SOS continues to gain thousands of hits on YouTube and has gained a large following in leading social media sites. For 5 Seconds of Summer's new album, fans can expect more catchy and upbeat tracks. Among the band's inspiring influences is the American pop punk band Good Charlotte.
More collaborations, among them with Motley Crüe's songwriter & bassist Nikki Sixx, are expected to churn out a great new album. Will 5SOS be able to surpass the overwhelming response to its debut album? With the band's stage presence, headlining tour, songwriting & networking skills, and amazing vocal range, 5 Seconds of Summer may be the next big thing in the mainstream entertainment scene.
