Are you excited to go back to Pandora? Well, hold off that excitement because we've got news to you.
James Cameron, the director of the first Avatar movie and other great movies, has pushed back the release of the sequels of Avatar.
The announcement of the sequels of the highest grossing film of all time was back in 2013 but I guess 3 years of preparation isn't enough for Cameron. Last January, he decided to delay the release of the sequels.
Instead of its original release date which was on December 2016, it will now be released in December 2017. Avatar 3 and 4 will be released on December 2018 and December 2019, respectively.
The reason of the delay is because Cameron wants to polish the script.
"There's a layer of complexity in getting the story to work as a saga across three films that you don't get when you're making a stand-alone film," he said in Wellington, New Zealand.
Since it is pretty ambitious to release the complicated sequels in 2016, he, then, decided for the delay.
But the fans need not worry because there are a lot of spoilers for you from cast to plots and other details of the movie.
Like the original movie, the sequels will be shot in New Zealand as well.
It has also been revealed that Sigourney Weaver will be back. She will be back with her role as Dr. Grace Augustine. How Cameron will revive the dead character we will never know until December 2017.
We can just speculate either Augustine isn't dead after all or some 'thingy-majigy' that is only possible in sci-fi films such as this. Cameron said in Cinema Blend that 'nobody dies in science fiction'. Or a simple flashback, maybe?
What's happening in that creative mind of his, we will never know unless we're Cameron himself!
Aside from Weaver, we will also see Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana with their old roles in the first Avatar movie, Jake Sully and Neytiti respectively.
But one thing's for sure, at least Cameron's not hurrying the films just to have money. He's into the art of filmmaking and he wants to make sure that the quality of the sequels equals to the first movie or more, surpasses it. Now, that's what we call ambitious.
Either way, we'll just have to keep waiting for James Cameron to confirme the official release date of Avatar 2.
