Andy Weir's novel The Martian will be adapted into a sci-fi film set to be released this November 25th.
Who would have thought that this self-published book, which was posted on Weir's personal website for everyone to download and read for free, could be this huge hit now? So big that it has been adapted into the big screen.
The film will be directed by Ridney Scott, who also directed movies such as Alien, Gladiator and Prometheus. So we pretty much expect so much from this film. This is Scott's forte!
With the teaser photos released by 20th Century Fox recently, sci-fi lovers are excited! They have teased fans with a few debut photos of the upcoming film. It is photos of their lead star, Matt Damon, in astronaut costume and in Mars.
It stars Matt Damon as yet again in an astronaut role. An orange suit wearing astronaut. If anyone can remember, he first played an astronaut in Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. Maybe he's built is perfect for the astronaut role?
Today, 20th Century Fox posted another set of photos. More Damon in orange astronaut suits and in Mars, a behind the scene shot and a photo of his fellow star Kristin Wiig.
The plot synopsis of The Martian reads:
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring "the Martian" home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney's safe return.
It sounds pretty interesting. Movie-goers are excited for the release of the movie's trailer or just a sneak peak? Anything will do, really.We'll have just to wait for 20th Century Fox's teasing, then. For now, we have the photos.
