Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 already announced that Gary Anthony Williams was cast as Bebop, a mutant warthog and one half the duo Bebop and Rocksteady. But it turns out Bebop's partner had been cast as well- and Paramount might have been keeping it a secret! In a few unofficial set photos, it's been revealed that WWE star Sheamus will be playing Rocksteady, the extra-large mutant rhinoceros.
In the photos, Williams and Sheamus can be seen talking in a bar and walking across part of the set. Both are decked out in just as gnarly material as their mutant forms- Williams has a spiked brown leather jacket, a nose ring, a purple mohawk, gold chains and spiked wristbands. Rocksteady, meanwhile, is sporting a spiked black leather vest (with nothing underneath) and a shiny red bowl cut.
In the classic '80s TMNT cartoon, Bebop and Rocksteady were part of a street gang employed by the supervillain, Shredder. As humans, they were routinely humiliated by the Ninja Turtles, and volunteered to undergo mutations to make themselves more powerful (and thus more capable of exacting revenge). This will, presumably, be a plot point in the upcoming film, as it's not likely that Paramount would go to the trouble of casting these fan-favorite characters without actually using them in the movie.
Brian Tee, the actor playing Shredder (replacing Tohoru Masamune in the first reboot) was also spotted on set in a sleek update from the first film's costume. In the 2014 TMNT film, the Shredder's full costume was a giant mass of indistinguishable blades- this one is a much sleeker suit made from black leather (with a pair of nasty-looking wrist gauntlets). Actress Brittany Ishibashi was also seen on set, as she's playing Karai, the daughter of Shredder. Ishibashi was wearing a similar outfit, although with slightly few spikes. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will hit theaters on June 3, 2016.
