Listen, we know last year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot didn't exactly win over audiences (even if it did win over enough money to guarantee a sequel next summer. Michael Bay's presence might have had a little something to do with that (also, perhaps the movie being too dark, too violent, not making very much sense and the Ninja Turtles- and Shredder, too- all looking like terrifying sewer mutants). But it looks like the sequel could change all that.
It's just been revealed that Arrow star Stephen Amell has signed on to the sequel, playing the part of fan-favorite vigilante Casey Jones. And, as reported, that's a huge boon to the film, if only because Amell's following on social media numbers in the millions and those mllions are extremely devoted to him. Also, he was said to have had excellent chemistry with Megan Fox in his audition, which will probably be a step up from her chemistry with Will Arnett in the first film.
However, there's still a number of roles that have yet to be cast. It's been revealed that two other fan favorites, Bebop and Rocksteady, will be showing up in the sequel, but it hasn't been revealed who'll be playing them. And it's entirely possible that Paramount won't be getting anyone particularly noteworthy to do so (it's not like the first Ninja Turtles reboot film had a big-name cast; other than Megan Fox it was mostly unknown or little-known actors).
If there's one role that's sure to draw a big name, it's probably the film's primary villain, who's yet to be revealed. Presumably, the mastermind behind whatever evil deeds go down in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will have a fairly recogizable name attached- if only to drum up a little extra attention and praise. Kind of like what Paramount's doing with Amell, right now.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will premiere on June 3, 2016.
