Avengers, Titanic, Frozen as 8-bit Video Games Garner Millions of Views on YouTube, Bringing 1980s Nostalgia and Artistry

Imagine your favorite blockbuster movies like Avengers, Titanic, and Frozen as 8-bit video games. It could easily look outrageous, but a Californian film collective did exactly just that and the results are even better than their film counterparts.

David Dutton of Cinefix is recreating these hit movies into the old school 8-bit cinema videos in their Youtube Channel and are garnering millions of views. Dutton, who works with his brother Henry, has recreated 45 hit movies into short films that have 8-bit video game graphics and feel.

He has recreated films such as The Matrix, Silence of the Lambs, Spirited Away, and Forrest Gump, which got more than 1million views. These videos will really bring viewers back to 1980s with much nostalgia. The team even got the seal of approval to recreate the summer hit Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie's director James Gunn even said, the 8-bit recreation of his film makes his "heart sing."

According to BBC News, Dutton edits the 8-bit videos using Adobe Photoshop and After FX, while his brother Henry writes the music and edits the sound in Adobe Premier. Cinefix said they have no problems when it comes to copyright, because their 8-bit cinema is considered "parody," which is allowed in the "fair use" clause of the US copyright law. The siblings said they grew up playing video games together, but they have no background in animation.

The short video game films work because of the nostalgia and artistic value it brings, said Cinefix lead programmer Michael Cruz. The artistry is one of the major reason why people come back to watch them, he added.

You can watch the 8-bit Video Games, the Duttons wonderful work in their Youtube Channel and enjoy your favorite movies retold as 8-bit video games.

Aside from the 8-Bit Cinema, cinefix has other film sub ctagories such as "Things you (probably) dind't Know," "Movie Wars," and "Homemade Movies."
