Evanna Lynch, the young star who played Harry Potter's Luna was Targeted by Homophobic Trolls. Young actress rants against them, calling homophobes out.
Eonline reports that the Irish actress made a 3,336-word post on her Facebook addressing the homophobes who criticized her Instagram post about supporting homosexuality and Ireland's legalization of gay marriage.
According to GayStarNews, the 23-year-old star hoped that the fans who know Harry Potter's Luna would realize she's the type "accepts all people and creatures in all forms." Luna loves them for what they are and is always aamazed with the diversity and strangeness of each being that she encounters.
Lynch tweeted that she is "fed up of trolls" and that she "wrote them a special loving post." This is in line with the legalization of gay marriages in Ireland on May 23, making the nation the first to approve same-sex nuptials. 62 percent of residents voted in favor for the legalization.
On her Facebook post she encouraged those who dislike homosexuality to unfollow her and block her. She said, since most people followed her because of her portrayal of Luna, they should know that the character "loves and accepts herself fully." Lynch added, "If Luna were to condemn and vilify such an intrinsic human thing as out sexuality and see any color of it as wrong, she would not sit so comfortably within herself and she would not be who we know and love."
Lynch has been a victim of online bullying in the past and overcame it by focusing on the good in people, according to Independent. This source reported in 2014 that along with all the wonderful things popularity brings, there is also some negative stuff, like people writing cruel things about you.
Harry Potter's Luna said she was prepared for the scrutiny that she may get for starring in the famous franchise. For her own sanity, she simply keeps away from public forums online.
