Things are looking very dire for 19 Kids and Counting. Josh Duggar was accused of molesting several young girls when he was younger, and Duggar later confessed to the crime. Ever since then, the word on everyone's lips is "cancellation," and it finally seems like that might happen.
Hulu has just removed every episode of 19 Kids and Counting from its service, just a short time after TLC stopped airing episodes of 19 Kids and Counting on their network. However, while no one's showing 19 Kids right now, it's possible the show could come back- and remember, it hasn't officially been cancelled.
According to Hulu, 19 Kids and Counting has only been pulled "for the time being," and it may have less to do with a moral objection at Hulu as following along with TLC. Hulu Chief Executive Mike Hopkins admitted that the only reason Hulu yanked the episodes was because TLC already did so, and they wanted to keep things the same between both services. "They took it off their platforms," so Hulu did too.
This isn't the only setback to hit the Duggar clan, though. Advertisers are dropping like fliesA number of brands, like CVS, Walgreens, Crayola and General Mills no longer support the show. The same thing happened to Here Comes Honey Boo Boo after it was revealed that Mama June was dating a man who had previously molested her daughters- the show was dropped by advertisers (and TLC) quite quickly.
That 19 Kids and Counting hasn't been cancelled might actually be a good sign- like Duck Dynasty, the show may just be laying low until the bad publicity passes. And the Duggar clan is still steadfast in their support of Josh and the series. "Are the Duggars perfect in their interpretation of God's moral standards? No. but neither is anyone else," said Michael Seewald, who is Josh Duggar's brother-in-law. Either the show gets cancelled or it limps back onto schedules later this year- either way, the Duggar family reputation has been marred for good.
