After being scrapped last year for its US debut, the cannibal adventure horror-thriller film "Green Inferno" is finally coming to North American theaters as director Eli Roth recently announced his partnership with three studios to screen the movie on September. Meanwhile, Roth will be releasing two more horror projects soon.
The "Green Inferno" movie by famed director Eli Roth was cancelled last year when the executives of the distributor Worldview Entertainment decided against honoring the former CEO Christopher Woodrow's commitment to finance its promotion, 3News reports. The movie is supposed to be out in September after its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013.
Appearing undeterred, Eli Roth announced recently that BH Tilt, Universal Pictures, and High Top Releasing will finally screen the movie on September 25 this year. Filmed in late 2012 and early 2013, the Amazon-set movie will hit roughly 1,000 theaters all over the US.
"I want to express my deep gratitude to the fans for their incredible support of this movie and to everyone at Blumhouse and Universal for making sure fans can experience the film in theaters across the country," Roth said in an interview.
The "Green Inferno" centers on a group of young, American activists, who travel from New York City to the Amazon in the pursuit to save an indigenous tribe. However, in the middle of trip, their plane crashes. They eventually find the natives, whom are a bit more blood-thirsty than expected.
Roth's wife, Lorenza Izzo, stars the cast along with Ariel Levy, Aaron Burns, Daryl Sabara, and Sky Ferreira.
Meanwhile, the movie is no solitary as Roth will release two more horror flicks soon. Aside from his "Clown" film last year, his "South of Hell" has released its first promo, Jewish Business News states. In addition, the US rights to his "The Stranger" were just acquired by IFC Midnight.
