Disney's 2010 feature film "Tangled" is reportedly to hit the small screens as the flick returns as an animated T.V. series. The movie will be aired on Disney Channel sometime around 2017.
"Tangled," the animated T.V. series version, will still feature the original voices of the main characters lent by actors Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as reported by Variety. Moore will be voicing Rapunzel while Levi will be voicing Eugene. The announcement comes after the 2012 premiere of the animated short called "Tangled Ever After" was deemed successful as it had over five million viewers.
The Disney animated T.V. series will be produced by Chris Sonnenburg and will be directed by "The Lego Movie" director Shane Prigmore according to AVClub. The composers will still be Alan Menken and Glenn Slater who originally worked in the 2010 movie.
Disney Channels Worldwide CCO and President, Gary Marsh, released a statement regarding the T.V. series and he noted that the genius of the original movie was the seamless blending of cinematic adventure, comedy, and touching emotion. He pointed out that the team they have formed for the animated T.V. series will surely create a show that is worthy of the original flick.
