With Marvel's president commenting on DC's way of producing movie, Warner Bros. president Greg Silverman came in with a backlash to defend the "darkness" shown in the upcoming superhero film "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice." Meanwhile, Wonder Woman is believed to serve as a love interest in the Batman-Superman standoff movie.
Warner Bros. chief Greg Silverman defended the darkness and seriousness tone of the 2016 film "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice." In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter (via IGN), the WB president answered the question with regards to whether the darkness in the 'BvS' teaser is a DC Universe trademark.
"There is intensity and a seriousness of purpose to some of these characters," Silverman exclaimed. "They aren't making superhero movies. And when you are trying to make a good movie, you tackle interesting philosophies and character development," the superior said.
Silverman's reaction is the retort to a comment made by Marvel's president Kevin Feige last month about Marvel's direction on not venturing a dark-themed film. Feige also elaborated that Marvel Cinematic Universe will always add a humor on its films.
In the interview with THR, Warner Bros. president pointed out the humor on DC's films. "There's also humor, which is an important part," he said. Silverman's reply holds truth as "BvS" and another DC upcoming film "Suicide Squad" differ on the tone, in which the former contains the "darkness" theme and the latter is a comic relief.
Meanwhile, it is speculated that "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" would feature Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) as a love interest between the two clashing superheroes. Although not as big a role she has, Wonder Woman is believed to be a demi-goddess and the daughter of Zeus in this film.
Another report says that Gal Gadot's character is someone who is an immortal and born in the 1800s. Wonder Woman will also take off on her solo film to be directed by DC's newly-hired director Patty Jenkins. "She came back and is doing a great job ... She has demonstrated doing amazing work with female characters, such as in 'Monster,'" added Silverman in the THR interview via a report by Comic Book.
For the fans of "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Wonder Woman," are you excited to witness these upcoming films from DC? Do you think they will somehow topple Marvel's films? The "BvS" is due to release on March 25, 2016.
