“Heroes Reborn Reboot” Update: New sets of actors and original casts revealed; New series to top its precedent?

By

Heroes Reborn is soon to be aired in NBC with a few original casts reprising their roles in "Heroes" but a specific date is not yet revealed. There are also new actors joining this mini-series of NBC.

It was reported by LatinPost that Tim Kring, creator of the Heroes, will take a different course of the reboot and will mainly focus on the new characters and their abilities in the fictional imaginary world that he had created in 2006. Thus, new actors are signing up for this TV project.

One of these new set of actors is Nazneen Contractor. Her character in Heroes Reborn is named Farah, a woman who is said to be mysterious, militant, strong and yet stoic. Contractor's role is recurring all through the mini-series. In addition to Nazneen Contractor are actors Gatlin Green, Ryan Guzman, and Zachary Levi who will be playing the new characters.

Although Tim Kring is very open to Heroes fans about the new approach that the Heroes Reborn will be taking, he said that some original casts will reprise their roles. Of course, geneticist Dr. Suresh is still part of the characters in Heroes Reborn. Definitely, Sendhil Ramamurthy will be returning to the show. Ramamurthy's character as Mohinder Suresh was a central character in 2006 "Heroes" but his role in the reboot is said to be a guest character.

Some original casts like Milo Ventimiglia who portrayed Peter Petrelli have refused to revisit their roles in "Heroes". But the good news is that Jack Coleman, Greg Grunberg, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Masi Oka commit to reprise their characters.

However, critics couldn't help but think if the reboot is a wise move. It was a known fact that the "Heroes" success was ephemeral. It was not able to sustain the interest of the audience in each succeeding episodes because of its style in resetting the character development. According to Popmatters the "resetting undermined the audience's investment in the characters, and lost track of the show's central concepts in the fog of its convoluted mythology".

The creator indeed has to learn from what went wrong in 2006 "Heroes". He is absolutely right to change a new direction and build new characters in which viewers could start to follow. Moreover, Kring would also make the plot less complicated.

Heroes Reborn will soon debut in NBC.
