'Captain America 3: Civil War' Latest Updates: Nick Fury exits? Marvel's 2016 cast confirmed by Samuel L. Jackson

By

Truly fantastic, Captain America: Civil War flick could easily be 2016's biggest blockbuster. This franchise has spun countless millions for Marvel Inc. and cohorts. It's definitely a challenge to think of any Avenger-related flick that fell short in the box-office. But how about taking Nick Fury out of the picture, will it work?

That query could be largely theoretical but lately that could be what's bothering Samuel L. Jackson these days. And millions of avid fans, loyal following who has seen the unfurling of the Avengers action-packed adventure from mere comic-book characters into full-blown masterpieces in film.

No doubt Nick Fury is a major player in the highly successful Captain America: The Winter Soldier blockbuster. To the surprise of many Marvel fans, however, Samuel L. Jackson's name - one which has been attached to the franchise for the longest time - is nowhere to be found in the official Captain America: Civil War cast list. So what gives?

The highest grossing actor of all time is as surprised as most of us. However, apparently, the Pulp Fiction actor got the message.

Speaking to Collider he details: "I'm not in Captain America 3," he told Collider. "I can't figure that out, but I'm not. I guess I'm still out there, trying to figure out what happened to S.H.I.E.L.D. and who these other people are."

To note, the 66-year-old multi-awarded actor did sign a nine-film commitment to reprise his role in Avengers films. And reprise he did starting with Iron Man 2 and ending with Avengers: Age of Ultron. Put in Marvel Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D. and that's it. Unforrtunately Captain America: Civil War is not part of the commitment.

For a better look here's the official list of the cast for Captain America: Civil War: Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlet Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Martin Freeman, Daniel Bruhl, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Elizabeth Olsen and Frank Grillo. Yes, no Mr. Jackson there - not even a shadow.

And with their stunning success with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Joe and Anthony Russo are back in the dito director's chair. Said list was announced by Marvel Studios officially.

For some spoilers: In this iteration you are going to see a divided Avengers team - Team Captain America vs. Team Iron Man - as collateral damage after an international incident effect political pressure on the group. This should test the leadership of the owner of the starred shield and First Avenger, our dear Captain in the US Army.

But never fear, Samuel L. Jackson die-hard fans. Marvel could be just warming up, setting the Washingon, D.C.-born actor for greater upcoming flicks. Two Avengers: Infinity War movies for instance are due in 2018 and 2019. So brace yourselves!

In the meantime, it sure looks like Captain America: Civil War is jaw-dropping indeed.
