DC Cinematic Universe: Batman v Superman, Suicide Squade, Justice League and More Updates

By

The release of the highly anticipated Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice from the DC Cinematic Universe is a true start to the DC crossover translation. Warner Bros. gears studio upcoming releases and sheds light in the move to focus on different directors for each of the next DC films Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman.

Warner has chosen to grant creative freedom to the directors to focus on bringing out the best in superhero movies in direct contrast to Marvel having kept to Kevin Feige's visionary framework at the base of each cinematic release. David Ayer has started filming for his Suicide Squad (2016) and have fans buzzing with excitement as photographs from the set make their rounds on the internet. Aquaman on the other hand has been slated to be directed by Furious 7 director James Wan and is scheduled to be released in 2018. Wonder Woman slated for 2017 release has however sparked some controversy with reports of having five different set of scripts and the recent switch of directors from Michelle MacLaren to Patty Jenkins.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Greg Silverman of Warner Bros. talks about the main idea behind the studio's approach for the DC Cinematic Universe:

"We have a great strategy for the DC films, which is to take these beloved characters and put them in the hands of master filmmakers and make sure they all coordinate with each other. You'll see the difference when you see Batman v. Superman, Suicide Squad, Justice League and all the things that we are working on."

While many are excited for the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe releases, fans have been confused with the studio's methods of switching directors and extensive script writing these past few months. In contrast to Marvel's 11 well received cinematic releases, the studio has yet to make up for their one Man of Steel release. The new visionary approach to the DC Cinematic Universe will hopefully work for the studio without compromising the beloved DC characters.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is slated for release on March 25, 2016.
