Sinister Six is still being worked on. But even though there are no specific actors, and plot for the movie yet, reports say that Sony has been exploring different approaches to the story and has a list of actors in mind to play the role.
While an upcoming Spider-Man is reportedly being planned, 6 of his supervillains are teaming up for another spin-off to be called Sinister Six.
Five of the 6 villains who will shake things up in New York are Doctor Octopus, the Vulture, Sandman, Mysterio, and Black Cat. Although it hasn't been confirmed yet, reports suggest that Spider-Man himself will complete the set, and will be the sixth member of the team.
Sony is reportedly making a list of possible actors to play the roles of the six villains. For Doctor Ock (Otto Otavius), Sony is looking at getting Matt Damon for the role. Although it's should be noted that this will only happen, if Spider-Man indeed, becomes the 6th member of the group.
Reports say that Sony wants Doctor Ock to be the character that viewers will root for, and hope to become Spider-Man's ally, but still end up as his rival. But other than Damon, other actors on the list are Matthew McConaughey, Sean Penn, Denzel Washington, Colin Firth, Will Smith, George Clooney and Daniel Craig. Well, this list is surely quite an assurance that Doctor Ock's character will be given justice.
They are also thinking about Ruth Wilson, Emily Blunt, Kerri Russell, Rose Byrne, Emilia Clarke and Elizabeth Olsen for the role of Black Cat (Felicia Hardy). For the role of Sandman, reports say that Goddard is specifically eyeing on Tom Hardy.
Aside from them, Sony reportedly wants to give roles to actors Idris Elba, Francis McDormand, Byran Cranston and Jackie Chan, although the characters they'll play hasn't been specified yet.
As mentioned, nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but if Spider-Man will really complete the Sinister Six, then probably he will not be played by Andrew Garfield, as he will also not play the part in a Spider-Man film scheduled for release on 2017.
It might still take quite some time before fans will get to watch these supervillains in action as the movie's release date has been pushed back. It was previously slated for a November 2016 release, but the story reportedly had to be rewritten, thus the delay.
There are no reports about the film's location and release date yet. For the meantime, fans can divert their attention at the upcoming 2017 Spider-Man film.
