Ellie Goulding clears up the rumor about her being involved with Ed Sheeran and Niall Horan. The singer confirms that she dated One Direction's Horan a few times. She also admits that she is happily in a relationship but not with Sheeran.
According to BreatheCast, the rumors regarding the three singers initiated when a British newspaper circulated a story online telling that the song of Sheeran "Don't" hinted about "Horan stealing Goulding from him." On the other hand, Ed Sheeran said that the said news was deleted because it was inaccurate. However, that rumor never died down since many were still writing about it.
And because of that, Ellie Goulding comes out and wants to tell-all the truth about this love triangle issue. She does not deny her involvement with Niall Horan. She discloses the few times that she went out with One Direction singer Niall.
In her interview with Elle UK, she said that she was never in a relationship with Sheeran. She added, "I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing."
Based from the report of the Celebrity Café, Ed Sheeran had implied the he and Goulding had developed a bond beyond friendship after the MTV VMA in 2013. When a picture of them holding hands during that event went viral, speculations exploded that they were hooking up. And then in a radio interview, the singer clarified further his relationship with Goulding. He said that friends don't hold hands. That's not what normal people do. He also said that at that time the relationship was on going yet now it's not.
Ellie Goulding voiced out her frustration over the media ostensibly sensationalizing dating issues about her according to a report from I School Guide. She said, "I find it so frustrating that female musicians are constantly defined by the men they have or haven't dated." She also mentioned that she talked about this with Taylor Swift, and the "Bad Blood" singer shared the same sentiment with her and is also bothered by it because it happened to female singers most of the time.
Though the "Love Me Like You Do" Singer admitted her past fling with Niall Horan, she said that her present boyfriend, McFly's Dougie Poynter, might be the man she would marry. She confessed that she fancied him when she was just a teenager and thought he's out of her league because he was too good looking. The two have started going out on a date since February.
Having said all that, people can now put an end to the rumors that Ellie Goulding cheated on Ed Sheeran by dating Niall Horan. There was never Sheeran-Goulding relationship in the first place. Ellie ended her interviewed with Elle UK saying that she is happy with Dougie Poynter. End of story.
