"Constantine" Cancellation Update: Showrunner Daniel Cerone says 'Show is Over'; Matt Ryan To Appear in CW's "Arrow"

After long weeks of debate regarding the cancellation of the dark NBC original series "Constantine", showrunner Daniel Cerone, has finally broke the sad news that the show remains cancelled. Though the series' lead actor, Matt Ryan, might be signing off as John Constantine on NBC, his fans could still possibly watch him on-screen as 'Arrow' producer Marc Guggenheim is reportedly interested in the actor to appear on the CW superhero show.

Over the weekend, its executive producer sadly reported that the cast and crew of the former NBC TV show have been finally released from their contracts. Prior to this announcement, rumors have surfaced that the network plans to move the second season of "Constantine" to Syfy, as per Cinema Blend's report. With Cerone's recent revelation however, it seems like the DC comic book-based series won't be moving anymore and is officially saying goodbye to the small screen.

Accroding to Cerone's lengthy message which was released via Twitter on Sunday, the studio attempted to find "Constantine" a new home but its rescue efforts unfortunately failed to pan out. "I'm sorry, I wasn't provided any information on the attempts to sell the show elsewhere. All I can report is that the show is over," he explained.

The showrunner's announcement also gave tribute to Matt Ryan who played the widely praised character of John Constantine in the hit TV show. Cerone also acknowledged the writers were very dedicated to the show. He also mentioned the avid fans of "Constantine" who, according to him, will be the ones missing out the most. "To leave such a significant, dedicated and active fan base on the table -- that's the real sadness," he said. "You all deserve many years of the series we set out to make, and we're disappointed that we couldn't deliver that to you."

NBC's 2015-2016 line up was noted to have loads of cancellations and now, the dark series "Constantine" is officially included on the list. Despite this, its fans and viewers do not need to grieve so much because "Arrow" producer Marc Guggenheim already expressed his interest earlier in having Ryan appear on his CW drama.

If Ryan really is going to board on the hit superhero show, it looks like he might not really be saying goodbye after all.

"Arrow" is set to return to its 8/7c, Wednesday schedule on NBC this fall.
