E3 2015 Update: Valve Corportion Dissed Gaming Expo; Half-Life 3 Remains in Limbo

By

Game enthusiasts might already be dying to discover the new products and releases to be announced in the highly-anticipated Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 which is set to start Tuesday next week. But they should not expect anything from Valve products as the company is not planning to be present on the show.

E3 is already known as the biggest and most anticipated event in the gaming calendar. This is where thousands of game developers, publishers and distributors attend to, to check out the latest products and releases from some of the world's largest gaming companies. However, Valve, the company behind Steam and 'Half-Life' will not be participating in the upcoming trade show.

According to GamesBeat, Valve is not taking meetings for its upcoming products at E3, which starts next week in Los Angeles. The company is also not included in the list of participants in the first-ever dedicated PC gaming media briefing, which will take place on the night of June 16. Instead, Valve will be utilizing its very own Steam digital-distribution platform and some minor events this year to discuss its future products and releases.

With Valve's absence in the most significant gaming event this year, this means that there will be no Half-Life 3 updates to come next week. However, this does not mean that some of its partners will not feature Valve's products.

As per Gamerant's report, Alienware, the company's producer of Steam Machines, will be on the show. It is reportedly set to bring the development kits of HTC Vive, the first virtual reality headset to run on Valve's Steam VR platform.

It might not be surprising anymore for Valve to skip E3 but it still is disappointing for some. Valve might not be developing a lot of games but when it does, they are often well-received. The company made its last major appearance back in 2010 when its managing director Gabe Newell crashed Sony's press conference to revealed Portal 2 for PlayStation 3.

Meanwhile, Valve might not be exhibiting its products on the event but according to Telegraph, announcements from a number of companies including Bethesda, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Sony, Nintendo, Activision and Square Enix are already expected in the expo.

E3 2015 will run from 16 to 18 June, but the first press conferences will be held ahead of the show, on Sunday 14 and Monday 15 June.
