There's no stopping the next upcoming action movie Fast and Furious 8 as Vin Diesel provides updates to fans on a regular basis so far.
A recent Instagram post from Vin Diesel shows him and Dwayne Johnson apparently working on the latest installment of the Furious series.
A separate post gave fans a glimpse of the film's poster. It shows the Fast and Furious 8 logo above the New York skyline with the Brooklyn Bridge appearing in foreground, making it highly likely that the movie's setting will at least be partly in New York. The franchise has featured a lot of other locations from the Middle East to Japan to South America.
"I swear to you and to my brother upstairs we are going to make the best movie you've ever seen," the series' lead star said during the 2015 CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Vin Diesel was the one who made the official announcement regarding the movie in behalf of Universal Studios.
"The last time I was on this stage I was with my brother Pablo. It's hard for me to even watch that clip and then come out here without being emotional," Vin Diesel added as he thanked supporters for helping the current Fast and Furious 7 film become the fifth highest grossing film of all time - a spot that was held previously by Iron Man 3.
The cast for Furious 8 will have both Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto and Luke Hobbs in it, as The Rock confirmed his return prior to the Instagram post mentioned earlier.
"Of course. It can't go on without Hobbs," Johnson said.
The former WWE superstar's presence in the film is critical at this point, since he could fill up the space left by Paul Walker's demise.
There are even talks that Dwayne Johnson's character might see his own spin-off movie. This could be due to the positive response received from fans.
"We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we'll see. I still think for me personally we've created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That's my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input," he said.
Meanwhile, Jason Statham revealed that he was keen on returning for Fast and Furious 8.
"There's Fast 8, they want to do another one... to me, it depends what Universal are doing and when they want to go," Statham said.
Fast and Furious 8 will hit the theaters on 14 April 2017.
