The hit sitcom series "Community" may have already concluded its 13-part Season 6 run on Yahoo! Screen, but the fans and viewers do not need to worry about missing their favorite characters yet as a big screen adaptation is being planned by the streaming site. Series creator Dan Harmon has revealed that Yahoo is interested in making a movie -which if green lighted, will fulfill the series' half-joke, half-promise of six seasons and a movie.
"I told Yahoo, 'I can't think about writing a movie until I miss Community,'" Harmon told Entertainment Weekly when asked about the possibility of season 7 or a movie. According to him, Yahoo! Screen desires to "turn around and do a movie immediately" after the season six finale of the show which aired earlier this week. "They're like the NSA," he jokingly said.
Despite the enthusiasm Yahoo expressed in bringing the college comedy "Community" to a bigger screen, the series creator, according to Christian Post, pointed out the difficulties the project would possibly encounter. One of which is reuniting the cast who are now moving on to other slates.
"The difficulty is in just: Can you get all the actors in the same place again?" he said.
Nevertheless, the series creator was still appreciative for the chance given to the series after it was removed from its original network, NBC. He also acknowledged Yahoo for being supportive of the show's recent run.
"Yahoo was so supportive that I completely self-destructed in season 6. I mean, I had no bad guys left. Yahoo was like Daddy Warbucks just picking Annie up at the orphanage, except in my version, Annie just like starts saying, 'Maybe the sun won't come out tomorrow,' and starts taking Ritalin in her office," he joked.
While the movie is not possible for now, a seventh season might be. Deadline claims that Yahoo and Sony TV had already engaged in talks for the show's seventh season. Though it is still unconfirmed, there's a great chance that it will be considered especially after Yahoo expressed its delight in the season 6 of "Community".
