Survival Game ECO Looks Like Minecraft, But With Laws And A Social Awareness Mission
Many are noticing and saying that ECO kind of looks like the nth clone of Minecraft. It's not. ECO is actually an environmental game with social awareness agenda at its core. It is a multiplayer survival game wherein players will have to form their communities, erect policies, vote and make laws, create a balanced living ecosystem and try to prevent an imminent apocalypse.
Despite the talks that ECO is a Minecraft clone or even rip off, one thing is clear: It's not. ECO is as global survival game that presents real-world problems in the most creative, informative, educational and fun way possible. In the world of ECO, one must build camaraderie with his folks in order to build a civilization and prevent the coming of a disaster.
They must utilize resources from a fully simulated ecosystem, where each and every action impacts the lives of countless species. In Eco you can propose and vote on laws that would then become physical limitations in the world. For example, you can limit the number of trees each player can chop down per day to 10. Overall, these features create an extremely powerful tool, a way for the group to guide itself and align its interests in the face of impending crises. The goal is to survive of course. If not, then the server is killed permanently and the world is dead for life.
Players must create a balanced ecosystem without destroying it. In ECO, much like in the real world, it is not just an individual or a group who experiences threat, but the whole planet itself. The world of ECO is home to thousands of plant and animal species, running 24 hours a day, growing, feeding and reproducing, with their existence highly dependent on other species.
The players' role then is to prosper in this environment by using resources from the world to eat, build, discover, learn and invent. However, without careful planning and understanding of the ecosystem, lands can become deforested and polluted, habitats destroyed, and species left extinct.
Eco is a game where the players' actions have meaningful consequences. ECO is a wonderful game because of its real world applications, lessons and the value of social awareness and social action that it imparts to its audience.
