Latest buzz about Lionsgate and Saban's "Power Ranger Reboot" project involves talks about the possible cast of the known franchise. Apparently, both companies want to cast unknown actors to become Rangers. Fans of the popular series are also wondering if Jason David Frank will appear in the reboot.
The "Power Rangers" franchise is about to add another movie to its reboot list as Lionsgate and Saban team up to look for relatively unknown actors to cast in the new film, reports iDigital Times.
According to Heroic Hollywood, this news will be somehow disappointing for some fans who are wishing that their favorite TV stars will appear in the new "Power Rangers" movie.
The project is still on its early stage that makes official information about it a little bit scarce at the moment. However, director Dean Israelite teased some tidbits about his new project.
The helmer said that the plot of "Power Ranger Reboot" will be "mature but still playful," which means it will still uphold its original audience: the kids.
In an interview with IGN, the "Project Almanac" director also said that they are still in the pre-production and reimagining the world of the Rangers. Israelite even furthered with elaborating the movie script.
"It had this wonderful character that's essential to going on a fantastic adventure. I was instantly drawn to it. I remember it as a kid," said Israelite. "I grew up with it in South Africa. When I opened the script I had no idea how it was going to be updated, and I was really impressed by it."
Meanwhile, Screen Rant reported that "Power Ranger" star Jason David Frank is interested to be part of the reboot in any way. Frank has been tied up with Saban ever since his portrayal of Tommy Oliver on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show in the '90s.
It is still unknown if Jason David Frank will really appear in the new "Power Ranger Reboot" but Lionsgate and Saban are eyeing unknown actors to cast as new Rangers.
