New Orleans To Host MLG World Finals, Featuring 'DOTA 2' Versus 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare'

On June 8, 2015, Major League Gaming (MLG) released the announcement that that its World Finals will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. The three-day event will happen on the 16th until the 18th of October. The event will see a battle between "DOTA 2" and "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare." This 2015 World Finals is going to be MLG's live centennial event.

Major League Gaming is known as the longest running eSports league in the world, and it has recently announced that they will be partnering with the Mayor's Office of the City of New Orleans to host the MLG World Finals at the historic Ernest N. Morial Convention. The competing teams representing "DOTA 2" and "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," will battle each over the prize money amounting to $500,000.

According to MLG president and co-founder Mike Sepso, "For the better part of a decade we've been hosting incredible tournaments and given out an insane amount of prize money, and we wanted to honor that tradition with our 100th event by making it bigger and better than ever before." He also said that "Fans will get multiple competitions, the best teams in the world, and all the excitement of New Orleans in what we hope will be an event to remember for years to come." On the other hand, Mayor Mitch Landrieu said that "With a booming entrepreneurial community, great sports traditions and a vibrant, diverse-culture, New Orleans is the perfect city for world-class sports and gaming entertainment."

The 2015 World Finals is definitely going to set a milestone in MLG history as the 100th live event. It will be a great celebration of the rich tradition of MLG eSports that to date has seen over 50,000 live event competitors, 45 million online matches played by over 10 million registered users and $13.5 million awarded in prize money.

Tickets for the World Finals are already on sale starting from $49 for general admission pass up to $199 for the VIP pass. The MLG president hopes that the event will be successful enough to be remembered for the years to come.
