Hugh Jackman has confirmed that he will be reprising his role as Wolverine in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse". This would mean that he will be playing the character for the eighth time now, since the last time he's played for "The Days of Future Past." Additionally, Jackman will also star on the third installment of his standalone Wolverine movie, and it would be his ninth.
The next X-Men movie is set to release on May 27 next year. And the Wolverine movie, though still untitled, will be out on March 3, 2017.
Meanwhile, when asked if whether he'll be appearing on the upcoming Deadpool movie, Jackman gave a hinting answer.
He said in an interview with Huffington Post that there's no official plan on it yet, but being it that he's friends with Ryan Reynolds, who will play Deadpool, everything is possible. "Who knows?" he said.
He added, "Hmmm, I can't ... no. Nope. But, I am really good mates with [Ryan Reynolds] so ..."
Deadpool arrives a month earlier than X-Men: Apocalypse. It will be out on February 12. It focuses on Wade Wilson, played by Reynolds, who after being exposed to an experiment develops healing powers.
In X-Men: Apocalypse, Jackman remains silent as to who will return and stay in the cast, or who will discontinue a role. It'll either be Patrick Stewart of Sir Ian McKellen, but it's very unlikely that Fox will throw them out. If Jackman stays, the other original members shall stay too. Apocalypse is a sequel to Days of Future Past, and will have Oscar Isaac as the main villain Apocalypse.
While talking about Wolverine 3, Jackman said that he's been very excited and thrilled to doing it.
"Weirdly, I'm really excited about shooting it. I feel great enthusiasm. I suppose it's denial - like the football player who announces their retirement before their last season - and so I'm really looking forward to it," he said.
James Mangold will be directing the third Wolverine movie, and Jackman has never been this thrilled. Jackman furthermore confirmed that Marvel is now in talks with finding his future replacement.
